International sculpture symposium

The Deconstruction of Survival at the Polish Sculpture Center in Orońsko.

Two monumental sculptures called the Lanterns from the series the Deconstruction of Survival realized at the Polish Sculpture Center in Orońsko as part of the International Symposium on Contemporary Sculpture 2023, made of steel, stainless steel, epoxy resin, polyurethane. Dimensions: 75x120x500/70x85x460 cm.

Mankind has always wanted to control the light, beginning with the subjugation of fire. He has slowly steered towards the reality in which we now live; the reality of screen illumination. Screens are our main source of information about the world. "Lumière" means to illuminate but also to enlighten - light has always been associated with knowledge, but light is a path in itself, a moving and changing thing. Light ultimately has the power to chase away demons. The function of a lantern is to light the way during the night; the function of a lantern is to show ships the way to port. A lantern is an object that violates the day/night boundary.
